Message
from the Dean
On behalf
of all the staff and faculty of Inland Valley University College
of Law, I would like to thank you for your interest.
Quality
legal education does not happen by accident. It requires the
combined efforts of highly talented students, faculty and
staff. Our faculty members are first and foremost educators.
All are committed to ensuring that the students receive the
individualized attention and instruction they deserve. Working
as a team, the faculty provides our students both the knowledge
of substantive law and the training in the professional skills
our students need to practice law in the rapidly changing
legal profession. The faculty is not content, however, to
merely train talented, Successful lawyers; they also endeavor
to educate leaders by instilling in every student an appreciation
for the leadership roles lawyers play in a democratic society.
Faculty
members and students cannot build or sustain a high quality
education program by themselves. They need the support of
a highly qualified library staff and a competent administrative
staff. At IVUCOL, you will find both. Our professional library
staff is highly knowledgeable and eager to assist both students
and faculty in their research and studies. Our Administration
and Staff recognize the difficulties that faculty and students
face; they pride themselves in their availability, attentiveness
and service to students and faculty alike.
We strive
to make our program available to all qualified individuals
who seek it. Today many entering law students are 'nontraditional
students' who do not come to law school directly from college
or who are older than the average recent college graduate.
To meet the special needs of those students, we offer a rich,
flexible, innovated program of full-time studies. We keep
classes small; most have a maximum of sixteen students. We
schedule classes so that our students, particularly those
who must balance the competing demands of family, careers
and study, can successfully complete their legal studies.
Research shows that many students, particularly the non-traditional
ones, learn better when classroom work is combined with experiential
learning, and so we supplement classroom instruction with
frequent hands-on learning experiences.
Law
School Mission
- Inland
Valley University College of Law was established to provide
an opportunity for students who wish to acquire a legal
education without regard to race, creed or cultural background.
The
institutions education is designed to be a people-centered

law career ensuring continuing personal growth and commitment
to human needs.
- Our
class size is small and in an environment where our instructor
will know each student by name which gives a student a feeling
of individuality. Our classes will include rigorous and
intellectual exchanges between teacher and student.
- Perhaps
one of our most important assets that we will impart to
our students is to enhance their ability to:
a. Organize their thought process
b. Read and recognize the relevant from the irrelevant
c. Express their thoughts clearly and concisely
d. Write in a legally professional manner
Law

and social changes and roles they played in the development
of the law.
- Students
are required to achieve a mastery and understanding of the

of the law.

legal problems |
| b.

these legal problems into a viable legal structure
|
| c.
|

creative solutions based on all the facts as well
as the needs of the client |
- The
College of Law utilizes the case method of law study. The
case method involves the study of actual court opinions
and the distillation from these cases of the rules of law
and their underlying social policies.
